Home with sinus. Bleh.
On other fronts: the new computer fried and is now on its way back to Gateway. Bleh2.
And on other fronts, I found out my car was in fact serviced by a ham-handed gorilla the last time it was in the shop. The rattle was a bent protection baffle, the interior fumes were from a loose oil cap which allowed seepage onto the hot engine, both admitted to as caused by the last service trip.
I have the limp superpower: mnemonic hearing. I knew something was wrong with the car.
This is like the fifteen minute conversation I had with the service manager last year that the "recall fix" they had done on my headlights was shorting out. He looked at the lights and controls and said, "No, that's exactly how they are supposed to work."
I told him I'd driven the car for five years and I respectfully disagreed.
Answer: yes, there was a short.
The problem here is that quality service is hard to find. At least at a dealer, you can write to national quality management. ah, well
Best to all of you!
