that spark!

Amber gaming on Saturday was interrupted by a fierce thunderstorm. Lightning quite beautiful all around us. I was cooking on the back porch and barely rescued dinner before the torrential rains hit.

The wind drove rain nearly horizontal. The uprights of the pergola trembled and shook. Once inside, I watched the gas grill vibrate and shift by inches in the direction of the wind. We had prepared for a storm, but this wasn't our average storm.

Within minutes, our power was gone. So we had a candlelight dinner.
The game continued.

But I grew fidgetty and distracted. The new tree in the front yard was uprooted and knocked down. The nearby site grading for the hilltop near our neighborhood was losing soil and hillside as wind and water washed it down into our streets.

It was impressive. I often love storms. I was nearly unable to game--being too caught up in the storm and damage happening real-time to tell a story about a far away place. The house had also become so still. No air moving, and the candles warming what air we were using.

While the anxiety was mild, I decided to move the game. There was nothing I could do about the storm or aftermath, but I could take Vivian and Anne to a better venue for gaming.

So we left and ended up at Barnes&Noble where we did game until 11pm when I took Viv home.

Our power didn't return until 7pm Sunday. How restful is a Sunday without electricity.
Luckily, only mild loss of freezer contents.

How was your weekend?
Mine was cool.

Fun question about genre specific to Amber asked there and answered here.

...I'm not sure how you would ever get a bare minimum.
