2009 thoughts: slots and offerings

No seminar this year. Great fun, but poorly attended. My suspicion is that folks don't want to do such mental work on holiday.

Closing Con with a Rebman game maybe not wise. Was so terrific the first time I wanted to offer followup... and good chance on cast not returning. Always the culture rp to bring up to speed with Rebma. Con organizers advise: "do not make Players do work"

otoh.... Players often do work for my games

web site does not offer GM advantages for game preferences, wondering about that

Argent Rose looks like solid for slot one
Cobalt Charter should not move for slot five

have retired 'Five Sides' as I would think most have had chance to play it (ambercon only gets 100 people a year and I've done that game with at least 10 groups). Yes! Veterans of Five Sides now allowed to chat same.

all else subject to change

* lord, been so long that I've done manual html, I blew the link above

I still have not played 5 sides.

We may move the Swan because I'd like to try my hand at Argent Rose.

where would be a good slot to put '5 Sides' if I did it again?

I don't know yet. I'm still talking to people who I owe me-time to. You're on that list and I'm definitely grabbing Cobalt Charter.

Note to self: post today.

GMs _do_ get scheduling preference over non-GMs. I will update the site to reflect that.

Also, please feel free to post to the site, a comment on any relevant page, the forums, contact form, whatever: if you see anything let us know!

I also haven't played Five Sides, despite it having been a first choice for the slot at least twice. Maybe over breakfast or something I'll get someone to spill the beans about it.

To get into Five Sides, you needed to rank it in that slot as your first priority, as well as giving it your number one preference for that slot.

The first year, the Five Sides slot was my priority number 2, and I still didn't get in. (And I was a GM, and also a newcomer to Ambercon.) So the next year I made that slot priority 1, and got in.

It's a very cool concept for a game. I'm borrowing the concept for a session of one of my own campaigns.

Thanks! The game always surprises the GM too.

I figured as much.

So when are you coming back to a Stateside Ambercon? Maybe NW sometime?

Probably not till I'm rich and maybe famous.

2011 maybe?

I'm keen, I loved every moment of the Ambercons I attended.

And there's a whole lot of stuff that I really want to run there...

A Secret of Amber, an Elders game, that finishes the story fragment started by Ed Greenwood and Roger Zelazny...

http://kingtheseus.livejournal.com/25373.html

A first book purist campaign set immediately after NPiA...

http://z15.invisionfree.com/The_Cursed_Darkness/index.php?showtopic=140

and Unicorn University, a satirical look at all things Amber, inspired by GURPS IOU...

Good question! I probably have even less of an idea than you do, and a worse memory of what is "traditionally" in what slot. Seven or eight, maybe? But if you're ready to retire the game, then that's how it goes. (On the other hand, I think the number of first-timers has slowly been climbing over the last few years. We had three newbies in Reservoir Hellhounds last year.)

Sounds like you should hold Five Sides for at least one more con, Arref. Both of those folks would have a grand time with it!
